How to Import Lotus Notes Contacts to Outlook 2010 & 2013

Two easy steps are required to transfer contacts from Lotus Notes to Outlook as listed above. So now we will explain both of the steps in detail.

Steps to Export Lotus Notes Contacts to a CSV File:

This is the first phase of the article where we will download all contacts from Lotus Notes to a CSV file. The process is very easy to understand and helpful as shown below:

1. In the very first step, open your Lotus Notes Application and move to Contacts
   
   
2. Go to “More” from the menu bar and click on “Export Contacts”
   
   
3. A Dialog box will pop-ups on the screen, choose the required field highlighted on the screen. Click on the “Export” button  to continue the export process.
   
   
4. It will take a while according to the number of contacts and will save all contacts to a CSV file.
   
   

Steps to Import Contacts from CSV File to MS Outlook:

The query how to import Lotus Notes contacts to Outlook 2010 or 2013 has been done 50% in the first section. Now second half task is to import resulting CSV file into MS Outlook by using Import Export Wizard.

1. Launch the MS Outlook, Select “File” from the Menu bar >> Choose “Open” and click on the Import.
2. Import and Export Wizard will be in front of you, Select “Import from another program or file”  and click on the “Next” button.
3. Now Choose “Comma Separated values (Windows)” and click on the “Next” button.
   
4. Click on “Browse” button to select CSV file from the PC and select “Do not import duplicate items” from the options and press “Next” button.
5. Select a folder where you want to import Lotus Notes contacts and Click on the next button.
   
   
6. Map custom fields if required and click on the “Finish” button to get over the task.
   
7. It will take a few seconds to import Lotus Notes contacts to outlook though .csv file.
   
8. Once the Import process done, you will be able to open them in MS Outlook.
   

Note: The manual process is very easy to perform and no other applications are required to export Lotus Notes contacts to Outlook. Still, there are a few drawbacks that can lose your data during the process:

1. Images and logo will not get imported
2. Only basic fields will be imported and specific fields may be deleted or get altered.
3. The process requires technical skills and is time consuming
